A Great Start to 2026
2026 is well underway, and we have had a fantastic start to the year. Our tamariki have settled back into school routines quickly and are happy, engaged, and ready to learn. We wanted to share a brief update to ensure you are well informed about what’s happening over the next few weeks. Please take a moment to note the important dates and add them to your calendar.
Meet the Teacher Night
Meet the Teacher Night is coming up next week. This is a great opportunity to meet your child’s teacher and hear about classroom routines, learning expectations, and what the year ahead will look like. We strongly encourage all whānau to attend.

Intervention Programme
We are pleased to share that our Board of Trustees has funded three teacher aide positions to support students who need additional help with reading, writing, and mathematics. If your child did not quite reach the expected benchmark at the end of 2025, they will receive targeted support to help accelerate their progress. This is a significant investment, and we sincerely thank our Board of Trustees for their commitment to making a real difference for our learners. Intervention lessons will begin on Monday.

Attendance
Attendance continues to be a strong focus nationally. This year, the Ministry of Education will be closely monitoring school attendance on a weekly basis and identifying students with frequent absences. In some cases, this may result in follow-up from a truancy officer.

Whānau, unless your child is unwell, please ensure they attend school every day. If your child is sick, it is important that you notify Jan so absences are recorded correctly. I will contact you if your child’s attendance is approaching a level of concern. Regular attendance is vital for learning success, and we appreciate your support in this area.
That’s all for now, whānau. Have a great weekend, and we look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday. Please read on for the rest of this newsletter.
